Why do I need more area measuring equipment?

Area measurement gives you several advantages: areas of individual hides can be used for gauging and sorting hides; while cumulative measurements are useful for production planning. Area measurement of hides on their way to finishing gives you an initial estimate of sales potential. Hides sorted by area can be stacked automatically using the pallet sorting module (PALSO).

How does it work?

• The Area Measurement Module (AM) unit is connected to the base system. It consists of:
• iTronic process computer built in 19” technology, complete with camera, digitizer interface, and optically coupled digital input/output system.
• Line scan camera in a tightly sealed camera housing.
• Illumination unit built into a sealed slim stainless steel cabinet. The unit’s high-frequency fluorescent light matches the line scan camera requirements.
• Speed sensors, optionally attached to the illumination unit cabinet for easy mounting.
• Measurement software.

How fast does it measure?

The Area High Speed Option (AMHS) enables area measurement to be performed at feed rates up to 25 m/minute. The standard version supports 18 m/minute.

Will the measurement remain accurate?

The area measurement unit needs to be calibrated upon installation and after each felt replacement at the sammying machine. The Area Calibration Set (AMCAL) contains all necessary equipment and software to carry out calibration in less than one hour. Only one calibration set is needed, even if multiple area measurement units are used at different machines.
