Why measure hide thickness?
Thickness measurement provides important criteria for the further
processing of the semi-finished product, particularly at the wet
blue / wet white stages. Most importantly, precise thickness measurement
allows you to optimize hide splitting and trimming, thereby making
best possible use of expensive raw materials and preventing waste.
How does it work?
- Thickness Measurement Module (TM) unit is connected to the base
system. It includes:
- iTronic process computer built in 19” technology, complete
with camera, digitizer interface, and optically coupled digital
input/output system.
- Steel bridge to be mounted over the stacker or belt, accommodating
up to 12 measurement wheels and speed sensors.
- Speed sensors to be mounted on the bridge.
- Measurement software.
- Thickness measurement wheels
Where do we measure the thickness?
- The system is flexible. You can use 1 to 12 thickness measurement
wheels. Most installations use 6 to 8 wheels.
- Each thickness measurement wheel consists of:
- Precision-manufactured stainless steel wheel optionally including
counter wheel.
- Sliding support for flexible mounting on the thickness measurement
bridge.
- Robust digitizer giving an internal resolution of 0.01 mm, which
is later rounded to display units of 0.1mm.
- Digitizer interface for the iTronic rack.
- Set of connectors.
How fast can it measure?
The Thickness High Speed Option (TMHS) enables thickness measurement
to be performed at feed rates up to 25 m/minute. The standard version
supports 18 m/minute.
